Who We Are

Who are we?

ACI Asia-Pacific, one of the five regions of the Airports Council International (ACI) and incorporated in Canada, is based in Hong Kong and represents 113 members operating 600 airports in 49 countries/ territories in Asia-Pacific and the Middle-East. As the only global trade association of world’s airports, ACI

  • Represents airports’ interest with governments and international organizations,
  • Develops standards, policies and recommended practice for airports,
  • Provides information and training opportunities to raise standards around the world,
  • Is a community network platform for industry stakeholders.

In 2017, ACI Asia-Pacific airports have handled 3.4 billion passengers and 56.3 million tons of cargo.

Major Milestones

1991

Airport Operators Council International (AOCI) and International Civil Airports Association (ICAA) merged to form Airports Council International (ACI), headquartered in Geneva and comprising of six regional offices (Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and Caribbean, North America, and Pacific)

2004

ACI Pacific Regional Office relocated from Vancouver to Hong Kong

2005

Commenced the talks of merging Asia and Pacific regions

2006

ACI Asia and ACI Pacific merged to form ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Office

1st ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Conference, Hong Kong

2007

Introduced Airport Service Coordinator Program to enhance communication with airport members

Inaugurated the Regional Aviation Security Committee (RASC)

1st ACI Asia-Pacific magazine published

2008

Inaugurated the Regional Operational Safety Committee (ROSC)

Inaugurated the Regional HR Committee

2009

Launched Small Airports Program Financial Assistance for Training (renamed to Small Airports Assistance Program in 2017)

Launched ACI Asia-Pacific Young Executive Awards to recognize outstanding airport talents

Regionalized the World Business Partners (WBP) program

2011

Inaugurated Small Airports Network

1st Airport Tour for World Business Partners (WBP)

Launched the Green Airports Recognition Award to recognize airports’ outstanding achievements in environmental projects

Launched Airport Carbon Accreditation in Asia-Pacific

2013

Inaugurated the Regional Environment Committee (REC)

Launched HR Excellence Recognition to recognize outstanding achievements in airports' HR management

2015

10th anniversary of ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Office

Inaugurated the Regional Economics Committee (RECC)
